Your Club Needs Your Help

With the first game of the season less than two few weeks away the club house and ground need your help to get your club ready for the best summer of cricket.
Please set aside some of your time on Saturday (19th April) to come down and offer your valuable skills and time and make a difference to your club. Work to be covered this weekend includes:
- Painting the sightscreens
- Sprucing up the Clubhouse
- Clearing out the tractor house
- Cleaning and organising the store cupboard
- Work on the outfield
- General tidy up
Come and help make this event a success, if only for a few hours, bringing suitable implements including spades, forks, rakes, paintbrushes, bin bags, cleaning materials, brooms, buckets, dustpans and brushes……etc etc
There will be tea and coffee available throughout the day.

Charity Match raises much needed funds

On Sunday 2nd September the Under 14s played a Dads v Lads Charity game to raise much needed funds for Charlotte Smith who is wheelchair bound for the rest of her life as a result of a serious accident three years ago. Charlotte's brother Craig plays in the Ripley Under 14 team.
A fantastic sum of £846 was raised and this will go towards helping Charlotte's rehabilitation. Charlotte's parents have sent their thanks to everyone involved with such a wonderful effort. |
U17s League Winners

The u17s beat Valley End at Valley End on the 27th. August in an exciting match.
This is the first time that Ripley have won this age group in the league which was established in 1979. |

Three games have been played so far (out of which we've lost one and won two). The dates for these games are in the fixtures. Under 15s Lose County Final

The under 15s were beaten by Leatherhead in the Surrey County final on Wednesday.
Ripley kept Leatherhead to a modest 117 but were unable to surpass this in reply.
Nevertheless, the under 15s have progressed further in the cup competition than any previous Ripley team. To reach the County cup final was a great achievement.

Ripley Win The John Bowey Cup

Last night Ripley under 15s won the John Bowey cup for the first time in its 35 year history.
Guildford made a total of 90 which Ripley exceeded with the loss of 2 wickets.
This takes them to the county semi final against Thames Ditton which will be played at 6 p.m. on Friday 30th. of June at Thames Ditton.

COLTS 2006

Following Ripley Cricket Club's AGM in November I am writing to advise you of the arrangements for next season affecting the colts section.
The condition of the practice and playing facilities at the club was discussed and it was proposed and agreed that their improvement would be a main priority for the club.
Winter nets will start on the 26/2/06 and will run for seven weeks until the 9/4/06. As before these will be held at Felton Fleet School in Cobham on Sunday afternoons at a cost of £3 per hourly session. Please contact your coach for further details.
Last year there were 116 paid up colt members of the club. Due to the continuing popularity of the section we will be entering seven teams for the West Surrey Youth League in 2006: Under 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17.
Training on the Green will start in the first week of May:
Under 13 and 14s Monday night 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Under 15 and 17s Thursday night 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Under 9, 11 and 12s Friday night 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Finally we would advise you that subscriptions for colts (that is up to under 17s) have been increased from £20 to £25 per year.
Last year we encouraged parents and guardians to also become members of the club and we were pleased with the significant number who decided to join.
All parents and guardians are very welcome in the clubhouse regardless, however, we would like to again take this opportunity to invite you to enrol as social members. This will entitle you to have full use of the clubhouse facilities and hopefully make you feel that it is your club as well as your children's.
The annual subscriptions for social membership are:-
£10 - Associate membership for 1 or 2 parent(s) or guardian(s)
£20 - Full Membership (includes voting rights at AGM) for 1 person

| On Bank Holiday Monday the Spider Trophy Tournament took place with 8 teams competing: Weybridge, Effingham, Woking and Horsell, Valley End, Ottershaw and three Ripley teams (due to last minute withdrawals from Normandy, Wood Street and Westcott). The final took place between Ripley A and Ripley B, with Ripley B turning out winners of the Tournament. |

Richard's Saturday 1st. X1 finished 10th. in their league.
Zaf's Saturday 2nd. XI have won their league and have gained promotion to the Surrey Championship.
Q's Saturday 3rd. XI finished 14th. out of 18 in their first year of league cricket.
Biff's Sunday 1st XI finished 4th. in their league.
Mansoor's Sunday 2nd. XI finished runners up in theirs. |

As a result of beating Chobham in the semi-final last night Ripley will play in the final against Valley End at Valley End on the 27th. of July at 6p.m..
Chobham scored 139 in 20 overs which Ripley managed to beat in 15.
